GAME DAY 74, CLOVERNOOK 70
Game Day Communications overcame Brad Loesing's 30-point game, six-assist effort for a 74-70 win in the first game Wednesday of the Deveroes Summer League at Woodward High School.
Loesing had 12 points during a 16-6 run that put Clovernook Health Care ahead, 65-59, with just under five minutes remaining in the game.
Game Day Communications was able to make up the deficit with a Loesing on the bench in the next minute, scoring on a three-point play by Steve Toyloy and a 3-pointers by Armein Kirkland. Scottie Donald sank his fourth 3-pointer of the game off an assist from Kirkland with 1:30 left to put Game Day Communications ahead to stay, 72-69.
Donald paced Game Day Communications with 22 points. Toyloy had 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Kirkland and Cashmere Wright each dished out three assists.
Brian Sellers scored 22 points for Clovernook Health Care, combining with Loesing to score 52 or Clovernook's 70 points. No other Clovernook player had more than five points.
Game Day Communications (3-1) will next play SuperiorCars.com (2-2) in the final game Wednesday, July 8, scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Clovernook (0-5) is off until July 1.
CAMP'S COLLISION CENTER 78, SLATS 65
Jamel McLean and Nick Wolf each recorded double-doubles as Camp's Collision Care handed SLATS its second straight loss, 78-65.
McLean led Camp's Collision Center with 21 points and 11 rebounds while Wolf finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Chris Knight added 15 points, all in the second half to help Camp's Collision Care extend it's 12-point halftime advantage.
Sean Kilpatrick countered with a double-double for SLATS, scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 boards. Dion Dixon led SLATS with 18 points, and Derrick Miller scored 12 more in his first game.
Each team will play John H. Flessa Law Office (0-3) in its next game. SLATS (1-2) plays John H. Flessa Law Office July 8 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Camp's Collision Center (3-2) is off Wednesday, but will play John H. Flessa Law Office on July 11.
JACKSON ALL-STARS 91, S.I. POOL CARE 79
Jackson All-Stars made 28 of 30 free throws (93.3-percent) to hand S.I. Pool Care its first loss, 91-79.
Jackson All-Stars was efficient from the floor as well, making 30 of 54 shots (55.6-percent).
Five different players from Jackson All-Stars scored at least 10 points, paced by Antonio Ballard's 20 points. Carl Richberg followed with 16 points, seven assists, and five rebounds.
Darren Goodsen had the top scoring game in the league so far for S.I. Pool Care. Goodsen scored 35 points, also grabbing a team-best eight rebounds with two steals and a block. Greg Rice was the only other player on S.I. Pools to score more than eight points, finishing with 13.
Having knocked S.I. Pool Care from the ranks of the undefeated, Jackson All-Stars (2-2) will now take on the last undefeated team in the league, OHC (4-0), in its next game 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8. S.I. Pool Care (3-1) is off Wednesday, and will play OHC in its next game on July 11.
