Game Summaries for July 15, 2009

John H. Flessa Law Office 88, Clovernook Health Care 69

Paul McMillan scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead John H. Flessa Law Office to its fourth straight win, 88-69, Wednesday against Clovernook Health Care in the first game of Deveroes Summer League at Woodward High School.

McMillan was one of five John H. Flessa Law Office players to score at least 10 points. DeAndre Byrd scored 16 points with four assists, DeAngelo Dean scored 12, Eddie Gary had 11, and Darnell Wilkes 23.

Leading 46-43 at halftime, John H. Flessa started the second half on a 31-11 run. Flessa shot 58.1-percent (18 for 31) from the floor in the second half, while Clovernook shot just 32.4-percent (11 for 34).
Terrell Holloway and Brad Loesing combined for 59 of Clovernook Health Care’s 69 points. Holloway led Clovernook with 25 points with four assists while Loesing scored 24.

John H. Flessa Law Office (4-3) starts Saturday’s play with a game against Jackson All-Stars (3-4) at noon. Clovernook Health Care’s (0-8) final game will be Sunday at 1 p.m. against OHC (7-1).


OHC 71, McCluskey Chevrolet 67

Playing with just five players, OHC was able to knock off McCluskey Chevrolet, 71-67, and clinch first place in the regular season.

McCluskey Chevrolet led 60-54 with under four minutes remaining, but Lonnie Hayes scored 11 straight points to put OHC ahead, 65-60 with a minute remaining.
Hayes led OHC with 18 points, making nine of nine from the foul line. Norman Plummer followed with 17 points, and C. J. Anderson scored 15 points, making nine of 10 free throws.

OHC made 29 of 32 free throws (90.6-percent) for the game, connecting on all 19 it attempted in the second half.

McCluskey Chevrolet reached the line just 13 times, making 10 (76.9-percent).
David Palmer led McCluskey Chevrolet with 20 points. Tony Rack drained four 3-pointers in scoring 18 points, and Corey Sorrell finished with 16.

OHC (7-1) is off Saturday before concluding the regular season against Clovernook Health Care (0-8) Sunday at approximately 1 p.m. McCluskey Chevrolet (3-4) plays against on Saturday at approximately 2 p.m. against SLATS.


SLATS 79, S.I. Pool Care 73

Yancy Gates and Sean Kilpatrick each recorded double-doubles to lead SLATS to a 79-73 win against S.I. Pool Care.

Gates scored 26 points and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds while Kilpatrick led all scorers with 27 points and had 10 rebounds. Dion Dixon added 17 points.

S.I. Pool Care held a 71-70 lead after a jumper by Maurice Mendoza with under two minutes to play, but SLATS scored nine of the game’s final 11 points to send S.I. Pool Care to its fourth straight loss after a 3-0 start.

James Millen paced S.I. Pool Care with 23 points, draining all four of his 3-pointers in the first half. Mendoza followed with 11 points. Charles Thompson had seven points and 10 boards, while Jamual Warren scored nine points and dished out six assists.

SLATS (3-4) takes on McCluskey Chevrolet (3-4) in the third game Saturday, to start at about 2 p.m. S.I. Pool Care (3-4) faces Game Day Communications (4-3) in the final game Saturday, expected to tip around 3 p.m.
