Game Summaries for July 8, 2009

JACKSON ALL-STARS 63, OHC 59

Carl Richberg had 15 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals as Jackson All-Stars defeated the last remaining undefeated team, OHC, 63-59, in the Deveroes Summer League Wednesday at Woodward High School.

Jackson All-Stars handed S.I. Pool Care its first loss of the season, ??-??, in its last game July 1.

Richberg scored 10 of his 15 points in the final six minutes, beginning with consecutive 3-pointers that broke a 48-48 tie.

Richberg was one of four teammates that reached double-figures in points. Rodney Haddix scored 13 points, Tyler Dierkers had 12 to go along with a team-high seven rebounds, and Antonio Ballard had 10 points.

OHC, which was averaging 85.8 points per game entering the contest, received 15 points apiece from Mark Dorris and Norman Plummer. C. J. Anderson followed with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 boards.

OHC (4-1) plays S.I. Pool Care (3-1) at approximately 3 p.m. on Saturday, with the winner claiming sole possession of first place. Jackson All-Stars (3-2) puts its three-game winning streak on the line in Saturday’s first game against McCluskey Chevrolet (2-2) at noon.


JOHN H. FLESSA LAW OFFICE 83, SLATS 71

Paul McMillan and DeAndre Byrd combined for 54 points to power John H. Flessa Law Office to its first win, 83-71, against SLATS.

John H. Flessa Law Office trailed for just 1:02 in the game, utilizing a 13-0 run in the first half to open up a 25-10 advantage.

McMillan had the second-highest scoring game in the league this season with 33 points, also leading John H. Flessa Law Office with eight rebounds. Byrd added 21 points by draining five-of-11 3-pointers. Steve Steward contributed four points, seven rebounds, and seven assists.

SLATS, which played with just five players, had four score at least 14 points. Anthony McBride led SLATS with 22 points, also pulling down eight rebounds. Yancy Gates had 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Sean Kilpatrick had 18 points and Dion Dixon 14.

John H. Flessa Law Office (1-3) will next play Camp’s Collision Center (3-2) in the third game Saturday, scheduled for 2 p.m. SLATS (1-3) plays in Saturday’s final game against Game Day Communications (3-2).


SUPERIORCARS.COM 74, GAME DAY COMMUNICATIONS 72

Anthony McClain scored six points during a 9-0 run that put SuperiorCars.Com ahead to stay for a 74-72 win against Game Day Communications.

McClain started the rally with a basket that cur Game Day Communications’ lead to 64-63 with just over five minutes remaining in the game. A free throw by McClain later tied the score, and after Vince Cook’s free throw gave SuperiorCars.com the lead, McClain sank a 3-pointer that extended the lead to 68-64.

McClain finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds, also blocking four shots. Bubba Walther led SuperiorCars.com with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and Troy Tabler had 13, including three triples. Dante Jackson just missed a double-double, adding 11 points and nine rebounds.

Cashmere Wright had a chance to win the game for Game Day Communications, but could not convert a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Cashmere still led Game Day Communications with 21 points. Steve Toyloy had 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Pierre Darden had 10points.

SuperiorCars.com(3-2) will play Clovernook Health Care (0-5) in Saturday’s second game scheduled for 1 p.m. Game Day Communications (3-2) will close out Saturday’s action against SLATS (1-3) at approximately 4 p.m.
