Dante Jackson scored 17 of his game-high 25 points in the second half to lead second-seeded SuperiorCars.com past No. 7 Game Day Communications, 84-71, Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Deveroes Summer League at Woodward High School.
SuperiorsCars.com was also bolstered by a combined 17 points off the bench by Deonta Vaughn and Vince Cook after playing with just five players in the first half and trailing 42-36 at halftime.
Fred Willis followed Jackson’s 25 points by scoring 17 points and Anthony McClain added 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Cashmere Wright paced Game Day Communications with 15 points, five assists, and seven rebounds. Pierre Darden added 12 points and nine rebounds while Armein Kirkland had 10.
SuperiorCars.com has now won seven straight games, including a 76-68 win July 19 against SLATS, its opponent in Saturday’s semifinal game that starts at 12:30 p.m.
OHC 76, Jackson All-Stars 75
Mark Lyons took a charge with 7.3 seconds remaining as top-seeded OHC avoided an upset at the hands of No. 8 Jackson All-Stars, 76-75.
Rodney Haddix was leading a three-on-one break for Jackson All-Stars with under 10 seconds remaining, but was whistled for the foul after crashing into Lyons at the top of the lane.
Lyons had a chance to add to OHC’s one point lead with five seconds left, but missed two free throws. XU And OHC teammate Jordan Crawford was able to track down the rebound after the second miss, which enabled OHC to run out the clock.
OHC had run through the regular season with an 8-1 mark, but was facing the only team to defeat it, 63-59, July 8. Lyons and Crawford did not play in the first meeting.
Thursday, Crawford led OHC with 21 points and three assists. Lyons added 11 points, and both players recorded three steals. Lonnie Hayes contributed 12 points, C. J. Anderson 11, and Norman Plummer 10.
Haddix led Jackson All-Stars with 18 points. Nick Winbush followed with 13 points and eight rebounds and Orlando Williams had 10. Carl Richberg dished out seven assists in addition to scoring nine.

S.I. Pool Care used a 9-2 run late in the second half to pull away in a tight game and eliminate Camp’s Collision Center, 92-85, in the quarterfinals of the Deveroes Summer League Wednesday night at Woodward High School.
S.I. Pool Care (5-5) was the No. 5 seed in the game, having lost to No. 4 Camp’s Collision Center (4-6), 95-92, during the regular season.
John Williamson led S.I. Pool Care with 23 points in his first appearance with the team. Williamson also pulled down nine rebounds. Jamual Warren scored 17 points, helped by a seven-of-10 effort from the free throw line, with six assists. Herb Jones just missed a double-double, scoring nine points and finishing as the game’s leading rebounder with 10.
The game featured 21 lead changes and eight ties, including a stretch of nearly six minutes in the second half in which neither team led by more than three points.
Jones also sank a 3-pointer during that stretch to break a 71-71 tie and give S.I. Pool Care the lead for good with 3:49 remaining. Ethan Faulkner made one of two free throws for Camp’s Collision Center to cut the lead to two, but Warren followed with a three-point play, and after the teams traded one free throw each, Warren’s lay up put S.I. Pool ahead 80-73 with 2:29 remaining.
Camp’s Collision Center hurt itself by making only 12 of 22 free throws (54.5-percent).

Game Day Communications 68, McCluskey Chevrolet 64
Darion Goins made six straight free throws in the final 31 seconds to send Game Day Communications to a 68-64 win at the Deveroes Summer League Sunday at Woodward High School, eliminating McCluskey Chevrolet from the postseason.
Goins was one of four players from Game Day to score in double figures. Steve Toyloy led Game Day Communications with 19 points and eight rebounds, followed by 15 points from Scottie Donald and 12 from Jeff Penno on four 3-pointers. Cashmere Wright scored just four points, but dished out seven assists.
Yan Moukoury led McCluskey Chevrolet in his first appearance this season, scoring 18 points. David Palmer added 17 for McCluskey.
Game Day Communications will play SuperiorCars.com in a quarterfinal game 6:30 p.m. Thursday. McCluskey Chevrolet was officially eliminated later in the day when Jackson All-Stars beat Camp’s Collision Center.

Jordan Crawford’s 3-pointer with 1:06 remaining broke an 81-81 tie, propelling OHC to a 91-86 win against Clovernook Health Care.
Crawford led all scorers with 31 points, also pulling down a game-high nine rebounds. Norman Plummer and Lonnie Hayes each chipped in with 15 points for OHC, which had already clinched the No. 1 seed in the tournament prior to the game.
Brad Loesing scored 26 points, aided by five 3-pointers, for Clovernook Health Care, which was looking for its first win of the season. Terrell Holloway followed with a 20-point, eight-assist, seven-rebound effort, and Jason Miller scored 18 points.

Jason Love and Vince Cook each recorded double-doubles and SuperiorCars.com dominated Jackson All-Stars on the glass for an 82-71 win Sunday in the Deveroes Summer League at Woodward High School.
Love led SuperiorCars.com with 22 points and 14 rebounds while Cook finished with 20 points and 12 boards. Anthony McClain came within one rebound of another double-double, recording 11 points and nine rebounds, and Troy Tabler was just two rebounds away with 12 points and eight boards.
SuperiorCars.com finished with a 51-29 edge on the glass.
Rodney Haddix paced Jackson All-Stars with 21 points. Drew McGhee added 16 points and Drew Kelly had 13 points and a team-best nine rebounds.
Kelly made a 3-pointer that pulled Jackson All-Stars to within 72-71 late in the game, but SuperiorCars.com scored the game’s final 10 points in the final two minutes. Eddie Tyree was six for six from the foul line in that stretch, scoring 11 points in the game.
Both teams are off until Saturday. Jackson All-Stars (3-4) begins play on July 18 by facing John H. Flessa Law Office (3-3) at noon. SuperiorCars.com (5-2) plays in the game that follows against Camp’s Collision Center (4-3).
John H. Flessa Law Office 85, McCluskey Chevrolet 58
John H. Flessa used a pair of big runs to bury McCluskey Chevrolet, 85-58, and claim its third straight win.
Eddie Gray scored seven points during a 15-0 run in the fist half that turned a tie score into a 36-21 advantage for John H. Flessa Law Office, and Flessa ended the game on a 23-5 run.
Gray finished with 18 points. Paul McMillan had 28 points and 14 rebounds, both game-highs. Dwayne McNeal had nine points and 13 rebounds and Steve Steward finished with 10 points and nine boards as John H. Flessa Law Office out-rebounded McCluskey Chevrolet, 53-26.
McCluskey Chevrolet shot just 33.9-percent from 3-point range (11 for 39), making just thee of 17 (17.6-percent) from behind the arc in the first half.
Scott Bibbins led McCluskey Chevrolet with 17 points and Jon Van Hoose scored 12.
John H. Flessa Law Office (3-3) returns to the court in Wednesday’s first game against Clovernook Health Care (0-7) at 6:30 p.m. McCluskey Chevrolet (3-3) plays OHC (6-1) in the game that follows.
Camp’s Collision Center 95, S.I. Pool Care 92
Camp’s Collision Center made its final 15 free throws of the game, including eight in the final minute, to send S.I. Pool Care to its third straight loss, 95-92.
Greg Davis had four of the free throws down the stretch, scoring 11 points despite making just one shot from the floor. Jamel McLean led Camp’s Collision Center with 24 points, making seven of nine from the charity stripe, followed by 22 points by Marcus Thompson and 21 from Nick Wolf. Wolf also pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Darren Goodsen, the league’s leader in scoring average, led S.I. Pool Care with 24 points. Jamual Warren scored 19 points and dished out six assists. Charles Thompson scored 17 points and led S.I. Pool Care with seven rebounds, while Jordan Bazile also scored 17.
Camp’s Collision Center (4-3) is off Wednesday, next playing Saturday against SuperiorCars.com (5-2) at approximately 1 p.m. S.I. Pool Care (3-3) will attempt to put a halt to its losing streak against SLATS (2-4) in Wednesday’s final game, to start at approximately 8:30 p.m.
OHC 78, Game Day Communications 75
Jordan Crawford scored all seven points for OHC in overtime, including a dunk in the final minute that pushed OHC to a 78-75 win against Game Day Communications.
The game had a Crosstown Shootout feel, with Cashmere Wright, Armein Kirkland, and Steve Toyloy all having UC connections for Game Day Communications and Mark Lyons, Adrion Graves, C. J. Anderson and Crawford all having XU ties.
Crawford also had OHC’s final seven points in regulation, but Cashmere Wright was able to send the game to overtime with his only 3-pointer of the game with two seconds remaining in the second half.
Wright added a lay up in overtime that put Game Day Communications ahead 75-74 with 1:20 remaining, but Crawford’s dunk put OHC back ahead with 32 second remaining, and his lay up at the buzzer set the final score after Scottie Donald had missed a 3-pointer.
Crawford led OHC with 20 points, followed by 19 from Norman Plummer. Mark Lyons added 17 points and C.J. Anderson finished with 10.
Donald led Game Day Communications with 17 points, making three of six 3-pointers. Wright scored 14 points, including nine of Game Day Communication’s final 14 points. Wright also had five assists. Steve Toyloy recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 points.
OHC (6-1) plays again in Wednesday’s second game, to start at about 7:30 p.m. against McCluskey Chevrolet (3-3). Game Day Communications (4-3) is off until Saturday’s final game against S.I. Pool Care (3-3).
SLATS 89, Clovernook Health Care 81
Yancey Gates scored 10 points in the final five minutes as SLATS eliminated Clovernook Health Care from postseason consideration with an 89-81 win.
Clovernook Health Care looked poised for its first win of the season after Brian Sellers’ dunk gave it a 73-69 lead with 5:22 remaining, but SLATS scored 20 of the game’s final 28 points to pull out the win.
Gates finished with 15 points, while Sean Kilpatrick led SLATS with 28 points and three steals. Justin Orr followed with 16 points in his first appearance while David Harris had 12 points in his second game.
Terrell Holloway led Clovernook with 30 points and five assists, also matching Sellers and Brad Loesing with a team-high six rebounds. Sellers had 18 points, Tim Barnes 15, and Loesing 13.
SLATS (2-4) plays S.I. Pool Care (3-3) in its next game, Wednesday at approximately 8:30 p.m. Clovernook Health Care (0-7) will continue to look for its first win against John H. Flessa Law Office (3-3) in the first game Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Jason Love and Vince Cook each recorded double-doubles and SuperiorCars.com dominated Jackson All-Stars on the glass for an 82-71 win Sunday in the Deveroes Summer League at Woodward High School.
Love led SuperiorCars.com with 22 points and 14 rebounds while Cook finished with 20 points and 12 boards. Anthony McClain came within one rebound of another double-double, recording 11 points and nine rebounds, and Troy Tabler was just two rebounds away with 12 points and eight boards.
SuperiorCars.com finished with a 51-29 edge on the glass.
Rodney Haddix paced Jackson All-Stars with 21 points. Drew McGhee added 16 points and Drew Kelly had 13 points and a team-best nine rebounds.
Kelly made a 3-pointer that pulled Jackson All-Stars to within 72-71 late in the game, but SuperiorCars.com scored the game’s final 10 points in the final two minutes. Eddie Tyree was six for six from the foul line in that stretch, scoring 11 points in the game.
Both teams are off until Saturday. Jackson All-Stars (3-4) begins play on July 18 by facing John H. Flessa Law Office (3-3) at noon. SuperiorCars.com (5-2) plays in the game that follows against Camp’s Collision Center (4-3).

John H. Flessa used a pair of big runs to bury McCluskey Chevrolet, 85-58, and claim its third straight win.
Eddie Gray scored seven points during a 15-0 run in the fist half that turned a tie score into a 36-21 advantage for John H. Flessa Law Office, and Flessa ended the game on a 23-5 run.
Gray finished with 18 points. Paul McMillan had 28 points and 14 rebounds, both game-highs. Dwayne McNeal had nine points and 13 rebounds and Steve Steward finished with 10 points and nine boards as John H. Flessa Law Office out-rebounded McCluskey Chevrolet, 53-26.
McCluskey Chevrolet shot just 33.9-percent from 3-point range (11 for 39), making just thee of 17 (17.6-percent) from behind the arc in the first half.
Scott Bibbins led McCluskey Chevrolet with 17 points and Jon Van Hoose scored 12.
John H. Flessa Law Office (3-3) returns to the court in Wednesday’s first game against Clovernook Health Care (0-7) at 6:30 p.m. McCluskey Chevrolet (3-3) plays OHC (6-1) in the game that follows.
Camp’s Collision Center 95, S.I. Pool Care 92
Camp’s Collision Center made its final 15 free throws of the game, including eight in the final minute, to send S.I. Pool Care to its third straight loss, 95-92.
Greg Davis had four of the free throws down the stretch, scoring 11 points despite making just one shot from the floor. Jamel McLean led Camp’s Collision Center with 24 points, making seven of nine from the charity stripe, followed by 22 points by Marcus Thompson and 21 from Nick Wolf. Wolf also pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Darren Goodsen, the league’s leader in scoring average, led S.I. Pool Care with 24 points. Jamual Warren scored 19 points and dished out six assists. Charles Thompson scored 17 points and led S.I. Pool Care with seven rebounds, while Jordan Bazile also scored 17.
Camp’s Collision Center (4-3) is off Wednesday, next playing Saturday against SuperiorCars.com (5-2) at approximately 1 p.m. S.I. Pool Care (3-3) will attempt to put a halt to its losing streak against SLATS (2-4) in Wednesday’s final game, to start at approximately 8:30 p.m.
OHC 78, Game Day Communications 75
Jordan Crawford scored all seven points for OHC in overtime, including a dunk in the final minute that pushed OHC to a 78-75 win against Game Day Communications.
The game had a Crosstown Shootout feel, with Cashmere Wright, Armein Kirkland, and Steve Toyloy all having UC connections for Game Day Communications and Mark Lyons, Adrion Graves, C. J. Anderson and Crawford all having XU ties.
Crawford also had OHC’s final seven points in regulation, but Cashmere Wright was able to send the game to overtime with his only 3-pointer of the game with two seconds remaining in the second half.
Wright added a lay up in overtime that put Game Day Communications ahead 75-74 with 1:20 remaining, but Crawford’s dunk put OHC back ahead with 32 second remaining, and his lay up at the buzzer set the final score after Scottie Donald had missed a 3-pointer.
Crawford led OHC with 20 points, followed by 19 from Norman Plummer. Mark Lyons added 17 points and C.J. Anderson finished with 10.
Donald led Game Day Communications with 17 points, making three of six 3-pointers. Wright scored 14 points, including nine of Game Day Communication’s final 14 points. Wright also had five assists. Steve Toyloy recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 points.
OHC (6-1) plays again in Wednesday’s second game, to start at about 7:30 p.m. against McCluskey Chevrolet (3-3). Game Day Communications (4-3) is off until Saturday’s final game against S.I. Pool Care (3-3).
SLATS 89, Clovernook Health Care 81
Yancey Gates scored 10 points in the final five minutes as SLATS eliminated Clovernook Health Care from postseason consideration with an 89-81 win.
Clovernook Health Care looked poised for its first win of the season after Brian Sellers’ dunk gave it a 73-69 lead with 5:22 remaining, but SLATS scored 20 of the game’s final 28 points to pull out the win.
Gates finished with 15 points, while Sean Kilpatrick led SLATS with 28 points and three steals. Justin Orr followed with 16 points in his first appearance while David Harris had 12 points in his second game.
Terrell Holloway led Clovernook with 30 points and five assists, also matching Sellers and Brad Loesing with a team-high six rebounds. Sellers had 18 points, Tim Barnes 15, and Loesing 13.
SLATS (2-4) plays S.I. Pool Care (3-3) in its next game, Wednesday at approximately 8:30 p.m. Clovernook Health Care (0-7) will continue to look for its first win against John H. Flessa Law Office (3-3) in the first game Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

JACKSON ALL-STARS 63, OHC 59
Carl Richberg had 15 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals as Jackson All-Stars defeated the last remaining undefeated team, OHC, 63-59, in the Deveroes Summer League Wednesday at Woodward High School.
Jackson All-Stars handed S.I. Pool Care its first loss of the season, ??-??, in its last game July 1.
Richberg scored 10 of his 15 points in the final six minutes, beginning with consecutive 3-pointers that broke a 48-48 tie.
Richberg was one of four teammates that reached double-figures in points. Rodney Haddix scored 13 points, Tyler Dierkers had 12 to go along with a team-high seven rebounds, and Antonio Ballard had 10 points.
OHC, which was averaging 85.8 points per game entering the contest, received 15 points apiece from Mark Dorris and Norman Plummer. C. J. Anderson followed with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 boards.

McMillan had the second-highest scoring game in the league this season with 33 points, also leading John H. Flessa Law Office with eight rebounds. Byrd added 21 points by draining five-of-11 3-pointers. Steve Steward contributed four points, seven rebounds, and seven assists.
SLATS, which played with just five players, had four score at least 14 points. Anthony McBride led SLATS with 22 points, also pulling down eight rebounds. Yancy Gates had 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Sean Kilpatrick had 18 points and Dion Dixon 14.

A free throw by McClain later tied the score, and after Vince Cook’s free throw gave SuperiorCars.com the lead, McClain sank a 3-pointer that extended the lead to 68-64.
McClain finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds, also blocking four shots. Bubba Walther led SuperiorCars.com with 14 points, including four 3-pointers, and Troy Tabler had 13, including three triples. Dante Jackson just missed a double-double, adding 11 points and nine rebounds.

Game Summaries for July 1, 2009
GAME DAY 74, CLOVERNOOK 70
Game Day Communications overcame Brad Loesing's 30-point game, six-assist effort for a 74-70 win in the first game Wednesday of the Deveroes Summer League at Woodward High School.
Loesing had 12 points during a 16-6 run that put Clovernook Health Care ahead, 65-59, with just under five minutes remaining in the game.
Game Day Communications was able to make up the deficit with a Loesing on the bench in the next minute, scoring on a three-point play by Steve Toyloy and a 3-pointers by Armein Kirkland. Scottie Donald sank his fourth 3-pointer of the game off an assist from Kirkland with 1:30 left to put Game Day Communications ahead to stay, 72-69.
Donald paced Game Day Communications with 22 points. Toyloy had 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Kirkland and Cashmere Wright each dished out three assists.
Brian Sellers scored 22 points for Clovernook Health Care, combining with Loesing to score 52 or Clovernook's 70 points. No other Clovernook player had more than five points.
Game Day Communications (3-1) will next play SuperiorCars.com (2-2) in the final game Wednesday, July 8, scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Clovernook (0-5) is off until July 1.
CAMP'S COLLISION CENTER 78, SLATS 65
Jamel McLean and Nick Wolf each recorded double-doubles as Camp's Collision Care handed SLATS its second straight loss, 78-65.
McLean led Camp's Collision Center with 21 points and 11 rebounds while Wolf finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Chris Knight added 15 points, all in the second half to help Camp's Collision Care extend it's 12-point halftime advantage.
Sean Kilpatrick countered with a double-double for SLATS, scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 boards. Dion Dixon led SLATS with 18 points, and Derrick Miller scored 12 more in his first game.
Each team will play John H. Flessa Law Office (0-3) in its next game. SLATS (1-2) plays John H. Flessa Law Office July 8 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Camp's Collision Center (3-2) is off Wednesday, but will play John H. Flessa Law Office on July 11.
JACKSON ALL-STARS 91, S.I. POOL CARE 79
Jackson All-Stars made 28 of 30 free throws (93.3-percent) to hand S.I. Pool Care its first loss, 91-79.
Jackson All-Stars was efficient from the floor as well, making 30 of 54 shots (55.6-percent).
Five different players from Jackson All-Stars scored at least 10 points, paced by Antonio Ballard's 20 points. Carl Richberg followed with 16 points, seven assists, and five rebounds.
Darren Goodsen had the top scoring game in the league so far for S.I. Pool Care. Goodsen scored 35 points, also grabbing a team-best eight rebounds with two steals and a block. Greg Rice was the only other player on S.I. Pools to score more than eight points, finishing with 13.
Having knocked S.I. Pool Care from the ranks of the undefeated, Jackson All-Stars (2-2) will now take on the last undefeated team in the league, OHC (4-0), in its next game 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8. S.I. Pool Care (3-1) is off Wednesday, and will play OHC in its next game on July 11.
